Actovegin is a deproteinized hemoderivative from calf blood. The concentrate contains only physiological substances. The expected therapeutic effects are: microcirculatory, metabolic, and neuroprotective. The drug helps improve oxygen utilization, normalize energy metabolism, and enhance glucose absorption. These actions are necessary in case of organ tissue damage. Other therapeutic effects of Actovegin:
- Improvement of microcirculation;
- Increase in blood flow velocity in capillaries;
- Reduction of the tone of smooth muscles of precapillary arterioles and capillary sphincters;
- Reduction of the pericapillary zone;
- Decrease in arteriovenous shunting of blood with an increase in the circulation of the microvascular bed.
Actovegin demonstrates efficacy in cerebrovascular disorders, including post-stroke conditions with cognitive impairment, as well as in dementia.
Actovegin is used to treat peripheral circulatory disorders and eliminate their consequences. The therapeutic effect is noted in patients with diabetic polyneuropathy.
REVIEWS OF ACTOVEGIN USERS:
Soll: I developed ear congestion, low blood pressure, general weakness, nervousness, and malaise. Then I was prescribed the drug Actovegin. The price is…
not low. Actovegin is a widely known drug; it is prescribed to children, adults, and women during pregnancy. It is of animal origin and contains tissue and blood from calves. It has contraindications, which are stated in the instructions. But nevertheless, there are more positive reviews; the drug is well tolerated by many. Side effects are rare. My course was 25 days. I noticed the effect quite quickly, primarily in terms of how I felt – I was no longer as weak as before taking it. My skin color changed and I felt less cold. Before this, my hands were very cold and pale. At one time there was even a noticeable blush on my face, although for my pale skin this is quite rare. Ear congestion has gone away. I was very afraid that the symptoms would recur again, as it is a very unpleasant feeling when the ears are constantly blocked and there are extraneous noises in them. Subsequently, my ears did get blocked several times, but not for such a long period of time. The last time my ears got blocked was immediately after finishing the course. But it passed after two days and subsequently did not bother me anymore. Almost 2 months have passed since I stopped taking Actovegin.
Here is what I received:
svar: I took the drug “Actovegin” due to circulatory problems on the advice of my doctor. Initially, I even doubted whether I should buy it or not, since the price for it, to put it mildly, is not small…
By the way, the instructions contain a very impressive list of side effects from using the drug. Fortunately, I didn’t experience them myself. The drug helped me cope with cramps in my hands. My hands often turned blue during the cold season, as the blood flow was impaired. My hands started to feel less cold. Now I take this drug periodically, several times a year. Sometimes I also inject Actovegin. I know that the drug is also used by pregnant women for fetal hypoxia. An excellent product and, most importantly, effective!
dudavanchik: The drug Actovegin was prescribed to me after a planned hysteroscopy with the removal of a small polyp in the uterus. According to the doctor, this…
drug improves blood flow and allows the endometrium to recover faster after surgery. I did not experience any side effects when treating with Actovegin. Well, it’s also quite difficult to evaluate the result, since the effect expected from Actovegin is quite indirect. After treatment with Actovegin, I did an ultrasound and it showed that the endometrium was good, homogeneous, and three-layered. True, it turned out to be a little thin, but this is more likely the consequences of a separate diagnostic curettage that was performed on me during hysteroscopy. After treatment, I began to study reviews of Actovegin, including reviews of doctors who adhere to the principles of evidence-based medicine. And I was very surprised to learn that, firstly, it is prohibited in some countries, and secondly, it can even be dangerous. Therefore, I cannot recommend it, but I still give the drug a qualified rating. Taking the drug did not cause any negative consequences for me, and I consider the good structure of the endometrium to be its merit as well.
naram14: A couple of times a year I regularly undergo treatment as a day patient in the neurological department at the hospital. After another visit to the therapist, we decided…
that it was time. For treatment in combination with other medications, the Austrian drug Actovegin was prescribed in the form of an injection solution. I use Actovegin for severe headaches. Naturally, in a complex treatment regimen with other drugs. I inject it intravenously. I tolerate it without side effects. It helps me. My condition is getting better, I even feel more energetic, my sleep has become better, and my pain has decreased. The first time I injected it was when I was experiencing dizziness. In combination with another drug, it helped after the third injection.
Alex2502: Some time ago, my husband experienced an exacerbation of cervical osteochondrosis (probably due to a prolonged stay in the same position during a flight). He saw a neurologist, went through all the examinations (CBC + biochemistry, X-ray, ultrasound of blood vessels), and was prescribed therapy…
including massage and a course of Actovegin and Ceraxon injections. The injections are administered intravenously; it is advisable not to be hungry before receiving them, and to sit and rest for a while afterward. After the course of injections, massage, etc., my husband’s condition returned to normal. I always mention in reviews of medications that I was only sharing my impressions, and it is better to contact a doctor directly for recommendations and treatment.
